Hello, my name is Jeannette, my passion for cooking started as a child, when I watched my mother cook with so much love for the family. In my early teens when I was in home economics class, I began to cut out recipes from magazines or write them down in a notebook. I then used them as my guide when my mom let me cook for the whole family. Even today, with my experience I must confess I still have the habit of cutting out recipes and collecting cookbooks. Without obviously ignoring all the media that we have available today, I´ve incorporated the food channel and others just to mention a few.
Sazón Boricua, is a collection of my favorite recipes and it’s where I hope to share the flavors of my country. We´ll share some of the recipes that have been, are, and will always be the classic recipes of this island of enchantment. I´ve also had the opportunity to experience other cultures and their food, and from each one of them I have learned something. I would also love to hear of new recipes, tricks, or kitchen techniques from you’re too!
Another one of my passions is photography, I like to play with the color and the light, which is what we perceive when we cook. I´d also like to mention that the majority of my recipes come from a recompilation of recipes, and in many cases they can be very similar or in fact the same as other published recipes. They can coincide with recipes on other bloggers’ websites for the simple reason that traditional Puerto Rican cuisine is simple and not very complex. If you are preparing a recipe, the procedure and terms are very similar. Basically no one can auto-proclaim themselves as an author of a Puerto Rican recipe. Every recipe I publish has been made and tested by me at home first.
